The ministry of ecology and environment has approved three national standards, including the unorganized emission control standard for volatile organic compounds (vocs), to prevent air pollution and improve air quality.

The volatile organic compounds unorganized emission control standard "(GB 37822-2019) provides for VOCs material storage unorganized emission control requirements, VOCs material transfer and transmission of unorganized emission control demands VOCs unorganized emission control, process, equipment and piping components VOCs leakage control requirements, the open level VOCs emission control requirements, the unstructured and VOCs emissions from the unstructured collection processing system demands, business premises and surrounding pollution monitoring.

The standards for the emission of atmospheric pollutants in the pharmaceutical industry (GB 37823-2019) stipulates the requirements for the emission control, monitoring and supervision of atmospheric pollutants in the pharmaceutical industry. The discharge of water pollutants, malodorous pollutants and environmental noise by pharmaceutical enterprises or production facilities shall be governed by the corresponding national standards for pollutant discharge, and the identification, treatment and disposal of solid waste shall be governed by the corresponding national standards for pollution control of solid waste.

Air pollutant emission standard for coatings, inks and adhesives industry (GB 37824-2019) stipulates the control requirements, monitoring and supervision requirements of air pollutant emission for coatings, inks and adhesives industry. The discharge of water pollutants, malodorous pollutants and environmental noise from industrial enterprises or production facilities of coatings, inks and adhesives shall be subject to the corresponding national standards for pollutant discharge, and the identification, treatment and disposal of solid waste shall be subject to the corresponding national standards for pollution control of solid waste.

According to the requirements, the above standards will come into effect on July 1, 2019. As of the date of implementation, the emission control of air pollutants in the pharmaceutical, coating, ink and adhesive industries will no longer comply with the relevant provisions of the "comprehensive emission standard for air pollutants" (GB 16297-1996).
